Gleams a Light (revision)

Standard
Across the darkness
on my windowpane
breaks waves of lace
splits night to color
that night cannot understand,
bright hope ignites
My soul’s aflame
‘till the unseen hand
breaks the link
and night fills
my sight again;
yet I’m content
for deep in my core
the fire still shines
and hope still soars.

  1. What is so good about your poetry, Steven, is its condensed image and the fire in the ideas behind those images. These are the key lines to me:
    bright hope ignites
    My soul’s aflame
    ‘till the unseen hand
    breaks the link
    and night fills
    my sight again;
    Out of darkness, made beautiful by the lace of frost on the windowpane, your soul’s flame brings light until an unseen hand breaks the link between you and the flame and night brings back the darkness of night.
    But even though you are thrown back into night you are content. For deep inside you
    the fire still shines
    and hope still soars.

    A beautiful poem!
